Volunteer to recruit for the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) today!

The WRP is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs.   The WRP is the primary pipeline bringing students and recent graduates with disabilities into federal employment.  That’s why the U.S. Office of Personnel Management has designated it as a model strategy for attracting individuals with disabilities to public service. 

Why volunteer to serve as a WRP recruiter?

·         You will have a personal impact on the hiring of people with disabilities in the federal government.

·         You will gain valuable insight and experience, which will add to your professional development.

·         You will have advance access to a group of highly motivated candidates that your agency can hire non-competitively – without opening an official vacancy announcement.

What is expected of WRP recruiters? 

·         You must successfully complete several online training modules.  Upon completing the training, which covers disability etiquette, reasonable accommodation, interviewing techniques, and expedited hiring flexibility, you must demonstrate your knowledge by taking a short quiz.  Additionally, as a new recruiter you must complete a “mock interview write up”.  You have until August 22, 2014, to complete the training and quiz, which should take no longer than 90 minutes.

·         You must commit to conducting interviews.  You can choose how many 30-minute phone interviews you wish to do (minimum of 10, maximum of 50).  Once you receive your assignment, you will have four weeks to complete your phone interviews, which you will schedule with the assigned school in advance.

·         You must evaluate each candidate interviewed and provide a justification for assigned ratings.  The information must be entered into the WRP website, www.wrp.gov, by the assigned deadline.   All data entry must be checked for errors before submitting to the program sponsors.

·         You must secure the support of your supervisor.  We will provide the appropriate documentation to facilitate this process.

Are there any other requirements?   

You must be available to conduct interviews during the recruitment season, which begins October, 20th and ends November 19th.
