REMARKS FROM NTC CHAIRS

On the behalf of the 2005 National Training Conference (NTC) on Employment of Government Employees who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, we would like to extend our warmest welcome to the 10th conference.

The National Training Conference (NTC) on Employment of Government Employees who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing is continually committed to enhancing professional growth and diversity in the government workplace through a wide array of technology, training, networking and communication opportunities.

The DHHIG/NTC will be held on May 9-11, 2005, at the George Washington University Cafritz Conference Center in Washington, D.C. The theme of the conference is "Think. Act. Lead." The three-day conference will focus on the employment, advancement, retention, and culture of government employees who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, as well as hearing employees. The conference will also focus on ways to foster communication among hearing and Deaf individuals, regardless of communication modes such as sign language or spoken English.

The conference will provide an opportunity for the attendees to hear from nationally recognized speakers and trainers; they will address current realities and future trends, and the assessment and use of leadership. Our goal is to increase the participants' awareness of issues that challenge government employees who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or hearing people with an interest in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

We have excellent Steering Committee members who are tirelessly working to make the conference successful. All of the members are volunteers who contributed countless hours of their time to plan an exciting 3-day conference. Please take a minute to recognize their contributions by acknowledging them for their hard work.

Please feel free to get in touch with of the Steering Committee members; their contact information is listed under “Contacts” page in the NTC website, should you have any questions. We thank you very much for your continued support and interest in our upcoming conference and look forward to seeing you in May!

Sincerely,
Yael Agriss and Alicia Epstein
